When it comes to using technology in the classroom, a teacher would gain experience by attending meetings and conferences for the duration of their teaching life. A webinar is a great technological advance in this world, especially in the teaching world. Teachers get to connect with other teachers in the area, other states, and in the country. The ISTE webinar is a free webinar that connects teachers from all over to learn the technology standards for professionals in the field. Another great technological use is Twitter. Teachers and students gain knowledge by using this application/website by following news on up and coming technology, asking questions in relation to education and technology, as well as communication between users who have similar interests. Educational technology is only on the rise, resulting in teachers and students becoming more and more tech savvy as we continue to learn.

One ISTE standard that is meaningful to me would be the Empowered Learner. The significance of learning how to be a competent person in school and in life is large. Technology plays a role in this standard because it is used by students to expand their knowledge in terms of networking, setting goals, and reflecting on what has been learned. I feel as though many students today and in the years to come are considered empowered learners. Technology is everywhere, and for these students, it is the most prominent in schools today. One standard that may be outside my skill set is an Innovative Designer. I personally do not have an interest in design, but for those that do, this standard is definitely for them. I accept the values of this standard, such as using digital tools and testing theories. This is just something I do not really identify with, but would love to learn more about if possible.

A "digital native," somebody born into a world of technology. This means that any person born during the time technology started advancing is going to become native to the digital world. They will adapt to society's use of technology and become professionals in technological aspects. Digital immigrants and digital natives equally know the basics of technology usage. Digital immigrants, although, may not be as savvy as digital natives. This is not true for all digital immigrants, because there are teachers I've had all my life who I can easily say understand technology much more than I ever will. I had one teacher in middle school who taught my computer class. He would teach us to code and create websites, something I never would have understood if it were not for him. In the future, I can easily say my students will be very tech savvy. They will know everything about a phone, tablet, or computer. They will understand how to use applications and websites that we may have struggled with in the past. I do not agree with the statements about Digital Natives, but I do believe that it will be easier for children who were born into technology to ease into our technological society. They will feel comfortable and all-knowing as they develop and learn in school. People will still read books in the future, they just may not be physical books, rather online. This is a life we are currently living in, and we will only advance technologically in the coming years.
