Blog Journal 0: About Me

My name is Sami Lev and I am currently a junior at Florida State. I am from Coral Springs, Florida and drive a hefty seven hours to school. At home I have two brothers, my mom, my dad, and my dog sister, Nala. My family is my life, but at school I also have lifelong friends who I am happy to come back to each year. As of right now I can easily say that I am satisfied with everything I've done in my life up to this point and am eager to see how my last two years of undergrad will turn out.

This summer, I was able to witness special needs children and their use of technology. Each classroom has different technology that is provided to them, but there was one classroom I did not work in, but had the opportunity to see how they use technology. With only using their seeing senses, the children are able to communicate to their teachers through a screen of colored boxes. This was the first time I had experienced technology this way.

In this class, I hope to learn the variety of ways a classroom of children uses technology in their everyday lives. Especially with children so young--I am looking forward to being educated on how technology influences the lives of students every single day. Technology is so widely-used in our day and age. Children learn how to use simple technology as soon as they are able to use their fingers to do so, which makes it absolutely important to understand how technology influences and helps them better adjust to a classroom.
